The Beaver

Last week as I was getting the kids ready for bed, our neighbor pulled into the yard on his quad.  He had just come back from shooting beaver in the creek behind our home and he had one on the back of the quad that he wanted to show the kids.

So the kids all got to see what a dead beaver looks like.  (Not many city kids would be able to have that kind of experience!)

For the next couple of days they kept asking why he shot the beaver.  The beaver have built a couple of dams on the creek in behind our yard and they’ve chewed down quite a few of the trees along our fence line.

I took them for a walk down by the creek to show them where the neighbor was shooting the beaver and the trees that they had chewed down.  It was all so fascinating for them.  I was a little upset to see all the trees that they had chewed down but my husband just said that it will give the spruce trees more room to grow.  I guess that’s one way to look at it.

Finding Time

Lately it’s been difficult to find time to write articles for this website.  I’m not sure if it’s more reluctance or lack of inspiration on my part or just too busy with other projects.  It’s probably a little bit of everything.

I’ll see how the next few months go but lately I’ve really been feeling like I should put this site on hold or possibly even take it down for now, at least until I can dedicate more time to it.

March Meals

March Recipes

There are 3 recipes that are not included in the March Recipes, they are Roast Chicken, Roast Pork and Fish Bake.  That is because I don’t do anything fancy, for the roast chicken & pork, all I do is place the meat in a roaster/slow cooker, add seasoning – done.  As for the fish bake, basically I just make up my own breading, coat the fish, place in baking dish and cook in the oven.

My own breading:  I’ll use crackers, rice krispies, corn flakes or bread crumbs – crush them into tiny pieces, add Italian Seasonings, garlic and onion, salt and pepper – mix it all together.  Voila – breading.
