Since turning three my son has been looking for more responsibility and independence. (Well the independence to a certain extent) So he now has chores that he does every day. He feels like such a big boy and I’m very proud of him of course for being so responsible.
His chores are taking the bag of recycling and the dog food pail out to the quonset. It’s so cute – he puts on his boots, asks for a hat and takes the bag. Down the steps he goes and out to the quonset. When he takes the dog food pail out, of course the dog comes running and tries to eat from it as he carries it to the quonset, so I hear him yelling “No Giz!”. After he’s completed his chores he comes back to the house and stands at the door, “Mom, I’m done!” Our screen door kind of sticks, so he can’t open it himself.
We’re very fortunate to live on the farm and not in town or a city. I know he’s safe in the yard by himself for a couple of minutes and I always watch him from the kitchen window to make sure that he’s making his way back to the house safely.
My goodness they grow up so quickly!
