Writing for Work and Pleasure

Writing for Work and Pleasure

Part of my job (my paying job that is), is writing 2 to 3 articles a week for a website that we’ve been working on. I started out writing articles for a business newsletter for my employer and now I’m writing 2 to 3 articles a week plus the writing that I’m doing for my own Motherly Musing site. I never would have thought that I would enjoy this aspect of my work so much.
In school I always thought that English was one of my poorest subjects, next to math. Grammar, punctuation and spelling came pretty easy but I never felt creative enough to really write. I really didn’t like English classes because I felt that I couldn’t write. I think part of the reason I held back my creative side is my lack of self confidence and not believing in myself.
It’s funny how as an adult so many of us wish that we would have paid more attention during certain classes. During my school years I hated math and English, but in my adult life I spent 15 years in the financial services sector and now find myself enjoying writing and using my English literature skills.
I’m enjoying researching topics and using my own experiences from my business life to write my business articles as well as using personal experiences to write about everything else. I’m finding the more I write, the more that I’m finding to write about and the ideas keep coming.
